| Christmas Eve Thoughts by Dennis Hicks Tonight I'll spend Christmas eve watching as presents get placed under the tree, and maybe I'll take Hank to church and try to find comfort there for me. I'm sure my thoughts will be of you and the sadness will be hidden but my face will refuse to shine, while the thoughts will be there, only the heart aware,by the thoughts that crowd my mind I'll ponder what might have been had this evening gone as planned Of watching you, Hank and Josh, while listening to a Christmas band eyes sparkleing,smiles aplenty,my mind and heart at ease the visions will dance in my mind of feeling loved,blessed,full of hope, and basically , happy Then something will shake me from those thoughts and I'll realize this was not to be and I'll make do, as I'm sure you will too, with the present reality The reality that we are through will come upon me with a vengent force, a tear will fall, and through it all, I'll pray that fate run it's due course My heart will know these feelings are true, for you cannot lie to yourself you see, And like a gentle wind that brushs your cheek, I wonder if your thoughts will some small way be of me.
