The Hebrew word "darak" (pronounced da-rock) came to be used for "bending the bow"
when somenoe was about to shoot an arrow. It is still used in Israel as a command to
"load your weapons." It is also used for trampling the grapes in the wine press.
It is a Christian symbol of overcoming our enemies.
"Darak Place", here in Bristol, is on the historical site of a WWII ammunition factory,
which produced shells for the war. It was under top secrecy with it's guards boasting
that a photograph of the factory was never taken. The foundation and bunker walls still
remain around the chalet.
As "darak" in Biblical times symbolized loading of the weapons for natural warfare,
"Darak Place" is a place to prepare oneself for spiritual victories today.
With prayer mountain behind the chalet, one can walk and meditate on the trails, prayer deck
at the top, or the many benches along the way.
Although "Darak Place" is operated by Interstate Fellowship, it is a non-threatening
environment for all who wish to come. It is not a closed environment for
just Christians, but welcome all. Enjoy the privacy of the retreat without
interruptions from the outside, but if you need pastoral time, it is available upon request.
