Main  Famous Temple of Dhankuta

One of  the richest in historical culture, religion and place of Nepal is Dhankuta district. So, there must have been more  famous temple, where all religious & pious people have visited  for worshipping of god to ask bless everday or some special day. Among more temple, here in this site, we put some important temple glance for all of you.

Jalpa Devi temple: This temple is situated in Chintang village development committee at about 8 km far from Dhankuta Bazar. This temple is named as Jalpadevi because the godes is situated or formed in water. The temple is also caled as Chintang devi because it is situated at Chintang. The formation of Jalpadevi Temple has got a  story -" In a dream of the priest of the temple Devi ordered him to put some mud of the place Ankhibhuin (Humbung Gaun) on a leaf of Mane and bring in Chintang and then to trust. When the priest came to see after some time he saw the source of water at the place where the place was barren or with out any drop of water/ At the mean time he put Sculpture (Murti) of the goddess in water and started to worship and give bali (scape) daily as a priest. Then the children of the priest is performing as a worshiper from generation to generation. At present priest Dagendra Rai is the 12 th priest.

Here is the temple without roof each of Jalpadevi and Kanyadevi. There is a big tree inside Jalpadevi temple. It is believe that the murti of devi was under the tree and the should be the source of water. There is a tradition of worshipping and giving bali(scape) regularly. There is a belief that all are desires would be fulfilled if we worship (do puja). Matured women are banned to enter inside the temple. People not only from Dhankuta but also from many far places has come to worship in this temple. It is worshipped eevery day except  the new moon and sunday and it is worshiped especiallly in Baisak and Bhadra Purnima. There have been made a gravel road from Hile Bazar to visit,so surely pilgrimage feel comfortable to reach this Chhintang Devi temple.

Nishan Bhagawati temple: This temple was established about 160 years ago in Dhankuta Municipality, ward no-6. Everday worshipping or puja is performed by a priest controlled by Royal Nepal Army. Scape (Bali) of goat, duck is given except at "Ekadashi", new moon and sunday. In Bada Dashain and Chaite Dashain, especial puja is done and bali is given by Royal Nepal Army. Everyday many people come here to worship from even from very far.

Madhu Ganga Mahadev Sthan: This Mahadev Sthan is situated in a cave on the bank of Madhu Khola in Bhirgaun VDC ward no-4. The Shivalinga at the end of the natural cave of about 60 feet long is worshipped as the symbol of Lord Shiva. Because it is very dark inside the cave we can enter only with a light or lamp. Beside ShivaLinga, lingeswori devi is made adn door is kept closed. Fair (mela)  is occured in manshire purnima on the fair people worship with dhup, akshyata, naibedya etc and give sacrificial beast (bali) of goats, hen etc to Lingeswori.

Bishranti temple: Shiva Panchyan or Bishranti temple is in Mulghat on the bank of Tamor river in Belahara VDC war no-9. In 2040 the NGO name as "Bishranti Temple" built the temple. This organization is organizing different land of helpful activities around its surroundings and also for the conservation, development and also to run simultaneously. It has also established a shelter for old people. Peple from Dhankuta and also from many other places come to worship this temple. Here the tradition of performing marriage, bratabandha etc is increasing. The temple is giving help in activities such funeral activities of death person etc. In Shivarathri especial pjua has done with great joy and mela can also be observed. It is comfortable to visit this temple due to koshi  highway.


Pathivara Devi temple: On the west after a half an hour trekking from the tourism place Bedetar we can see the crowd of people in pathivara devi temple. People from Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari etc came to worship the symbol of Pathivara devi of from Taplejung. These is a gravel road to reach pathivara devi temple from Bhedetar

Nageswor Maha Dev temple: It is situated in Leguwa village development committee ward no-5. The snake shaped shivalinga is established and is being worshiped. It is believed that this temple is established about 200 years ago. Puja is performed everday and especially people worship in shrawan, every full moon, shivaratri, nagpachami and Bada Dashain.

Margathan temple: This temple is situated in Bihibare Haat of Dhankuta Municipality, ward no-5. There is an encloses of bricks around the temple and a door to enter. In the middle of the barricade, trisul of iron is kept  by Aathpahariya Rai perform puja Dhungepjua, Nwangi puja, Mangsire puja etc and the tradition bali of pig and chickens of hen.
