Indian Classical Music

I used to like listening to indian classical music, but earlier I never looked into it seriously. Just since last year, I have developed interest and liking in this area. Having got some basic knowledge of ragas, talas, saptakas etc. now I can better appreciate classical music. Till now I have learnt 16 ragas on violin. These ragas are - 1. Bhoopa. 2. Durgaa. 3. Saaranga. 4. Desa. 5. Khamaaja. 6. Kaafi. 7. Baageshree. 8. Bheemapalaasee. 9. Alhaiyyaa Bilaavala. 10. Tilakkaamoda. 11. Kalyaana. 12. Kedaara. 13. Bihaaga. 14. Pilu. 15. Bhairavee. 16. Bhairava. Kalyaan is supposed to be the king of all ragas. Just like ragas, there are many kinds of taalaas - 1. Ektaala. 2. Vilambita ektaala. 3. Tritaala. 4. Chautaala. 5. Roopaka. 6. Daadaraa. 7. Keravaa. 8. Zapataala. Personalities which I admire in this area are Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustaad Zakir Hussain, Hariprasad Chaurasiya, and many others.
