Hackwell's workshop; the business started by Charles Hackwell whose house, Somerleigh, was next door to the workshop on Mill Lane (now Clewer). Mr Hackwell ran the business with his son Tom and in 1913 Hackwell & Son advertised in the Parish News as 'Builders, Contractors, Undertakers, Wheel-wrights and House Decorators'. Traps and carts were built from scratch in the workshop and were winched on a platform to the paint shop above, away from the sawdust.
