SAMUEL  TERRY

Samuel Terry, son of William and Charlotte (Clark) Terry, was born in England about 1841.
You may read of Samuel's parents at the following site.
TERRY.
He is found in the ship's passenger list,
American Eagle, in 1848-9 as the family journeyed
to America.  He is listed  as age 8  in the Milwaukee WI census of 1850, "in school".   In 1860
census of Macon County IL,   Samuel is shown to be 18 years of age.  A record of land sales in
Illinois lists Samuel Terry as purchaser   of   40 acres in Macon County, near Decatur, IL.

shows that he was married twice,  and Nannie
Miller was the second wife.  Family letters say
that Samuel and his mother, Charlotte, and
sister,   Amelia, moved from Illinois to
Montgomery County KS in about 1872.
There is an early KS  map which shows
  property owners, including  Samuel Terry.

According to Montgomery Co KS Marriages,
Samuel Terry,  28,  of Sycamore married
Nannie Miller, age  20,  signed by  William
Griffin J.P. [Justice of the Peace] and Samuel
Terry. They were married at Radical City,
24   Dec 1872.   She was daughter of John J.
Miller and Diana M. Harris, and sister of Sarah
and John W. Miller who originally came from
West Virginia with the Griffin family.  [William
Griffin was father of Samuel Young Griffin, who   married Lizzie Terry.]
