This is a statue of Canadian hero, Terry Fox, erected in a park by Highway 17 east of Thunder Bay. Terry had lost a leg to cancer and struck out in 1980 on a cross-Canada run to raise money for cancer research. Unfortunately, he had to cancel his run near Thunder Bay after cancer recurred and he later succumbed to the disease.
