Friends

Friends mean a lot to me, and the people in the picture above
are the friends that were with me through out my high school
years. They are very important people to me, and they are
also the people these poems are dedicated to. some poems are
good and some are bad, but we have had our bad and good times.

You Will never Know
You will never know how much this friendship means to me.
I could say a thousand words and still you would not see.
I'm the only one who knows how much it truly means,
and this is the type of friendship, people wish for in their dreams.
The talks, the tears, the laughs we've shared, are always there to find.
Even on the saddest days, I can picture them in my mind.
I wish I could explain how happy I am, to have found a friend so true,
but this poem can't go on forever, so I'll simply say, "Thank You!"

Best Friends
When we awaken every day,
there are some things we need to say.
What we did and what to do,
and we know it stays between me and you.
We laughed and loved, and cried together,
and said that we'd be friends forever.
But what should happen if one day,
one of us should go away.
Would we say nothing or start to cry.
Nothing, because we can't say good-bye.
If our friendship should ever end,
we'd know we once had the very best friend.
So until that day, we'll be friends with pride,
and stand there by each other's side.

A Friend
A friend is like a flower, a rose to be exact,
Or maybe like a brand new gate that never comes unlatched.
A friend is like an owl, both beautiful and wise
Or perhaps a friend is like a ghost, whose spirit never dies.
A friend is like those blades of grass you can never mow,
standing straight, tall, and proud in a perfect little row.
A friend is like a heart that goes strong until the end.
Where would we be in this world if we didn't have a friend.

Fading Friend
I'm sitting here wondering why our friendship fell.
How can you expect me to forget something I knew so well.
Everything that you lost is what made our friendship grow,
And now because of this change, I'm forced to let it go.
I picture all those talks we had, on those memorable nights,
and you wonder why letting them go is becoming such a fight.
I thought nothing could come between what this friendship has grown to be.
Now I realize the one thing that can, is simply you and me.
Changing what you like is the last thing I expect you to do,
but after what I've grown to love, how can you expect me to?
I realize your happy and I realize you feel free.
but everything that is happening to you, is not what's happening to me.
I'm glad that you are happy, so do not get me wrong.
cause after all that you've been through, you deserve to become strong.
But why it's effecting our friendship, is what I don't understand.
Why can't we still be there for each other when we need a helping hand?
Why should our friendship suffer, because of choices that were made?
And how can you just sit there and watch our friendship fade?
can't you see what's happening is tearing me apart.
It feels like someone just reached in and tore out my whole heart.
But because I care for you deeply, and because I love you so,
I'll try to readjust, and I'll try to let it go.
If you do not understand why I think this friendship will end,
It's because the core of our friendship is gone, and will never be replaced again!

The War of the Roses
People say a real rose is better, because it has a life to live.
but I don't think it compares to, the warm feelings a silk rose gives.
The feelings you feel when you get a real rose are nice but you soon will find,
It's petals will wilt as it disappears, leaving no memory of it in your mind.
But a silk rose stays with you always, and never goes away.
Even when it's raining out, it brightens up your day.
It reminds you of the past you had, it's true meaning you'll never forget.
and it still leaves you wondering what's next to come of a life you haven't seen yet.
So, I'll take my chances with the one that's forever, instead of the one that ends.
cause I know as I toss the dead petals away, my silk rose will never bend.

Gone but not Forgotten
It seems like just the other day,
I was standing in the sun feeling the warmth upon my face.
Now I step outside and feel a chill from the coldness of fall.
I remember running around at Halloween,
from house to house yelling, "trick or treat!"
now it's my house everyone comes to.
I dream about making construction paper object in kindergarten.
Now I make abstract art and newspapers in High School.
It's funny how all the things I remember have disappeared physically.
Kind of like our friendship, Gone but not Forgotten.
