Dr. Richard Clifton Brandon
[May 8, 1813 - April 24, 1894]
of South Carolina and Pickens County, Alabama
Buried at Fellowship Cemetery, near Gordo, Pickens County, Alabama. His headstone was furnished by cousin Willie Lowe some years after his death. His wife Mary S. 'Tirsah' Bailey Brandon is said to be buried beside him, but there is no marker.

I descend from their son
George Washington Brandon and his wife Ida Lucinda Elmore.
He received his sheepskin in medicine from Alabama Board of Medical Examiners in 1845. Dr. Brandon practiced medicine in Pickens County, Alabama, northeast of Gordo and his wife practiced with him. The Civil War left the community destitute and they gave their services for the good of the people and received a bucket of syrup, a few potatoes, a bag of corn or a few vegetables as pay in many instances. The Masonic Lodge at Reform gave them a small stipend in their old age. He was a Master Mason and Worshipful Master of Fellowship Lodge No. 172 of F. & A.M. of Alabama, Reform, Alabama.
I believe Richard Clifton Brandon is the son of George Brandon and 'Franky' Mitchell, and the brother of John Rice Brandon. Franky Mitchell had a brother named Clifton, and one named Rice [her mother's maiden name was Rice.]
George Brandon is the son of Revolutionary War Soldier Richard Brandon and Agnes 'Nancy' Kincade, of Union County, South Carolina. Richard Brandon fought under his brother Colonel Thomas Brandon, also of Union County, South Carolina. Here is a transcription of the pension application for Richard Brandon's Revolutionary War Service
