Reuben Nunnery
[1837-1910]

This is the only photo I have for Reuben Nunnery, son of John H. Nunnery and Elizabeth Holloway of Amite County, Mississippi. Reuben was a Confederate Soldier in Company C, 7th Regiment, Mississippi Infantry. He participated in the Battle of Stones River, Murfreesboro, TN on Dec 31, 1862, was wounded, taken prisoner and released by April 1863. He then became an ambulance driver for his unit and continued this duty for the duration of the war. I've got copies of his military service records from microfilm, I'll be glad to share them if you are interested.

He married Elizabeth Jane Harvey, daughter of Thomas Kennon Harvey and Nancy Cain of Amite County, Mississippi and they had nine known children. I descend from their daughter
Julia Alice Nunnery, who married John Turner Carraway.

Reuben and his wife are buried at the New Zion Baptist Church (sometimes called Nunnery) Cemetery, Amite County, Mississippi. Have you got a portrait of Reuben?
