Jim, in short, is just about the most resposible crew member of the Outlaw Star. He is an excellent mechanic, computer whiz and hacker, and has an astounding mature personality. He even in most occasions keeps his eye on the goal much more so than Gene ever could. Jim sees Melfina as a "mother" and Gene like a "father" to him. He has a vast knowledge of weapon and ship systems and helps Gene whenever possible, since they are practically brothers. In tough situations they work as a team like clockwork and are just about as unpredictable as their personalities themselves. Not Kai-Pirates, assasins, Ctarl-Ctarl, or even other outlaws can take this perfect pair. All in all, Jim himself is a pretty cool guy and never needed any schooling to become the genius you see today.
