		WELCOME TO 1B

From fish to frogs, 1B students know their facts. We have practiced scientific observation and recording using real fish. Students can tell you interesting facts about frogs such as their eggs are called frog spawn and frogs have two sets of eyelids. We even carried the frog theme into our literature. After reading The Frog Principal, students identified the story elements using the STORY acronym (Setting, Talking characters, Oops a problem, Resolving the problem and Yay the problem is solved). Students then drew the elements of the story by following the STORY acronym. We used a big graph outside to experience an intorduction to probability. We are using the information we learn about graphs to help us record our data in Science. Center time has been busy making origami frog puppets, tasting apples, and making our family using geometric shapes.

	We are anxiously awaiting Open House on October 14th at 6:00. We can't wait to show our parents how we spend our days in First Grade.
