| Ok, most penpals don't ask me such a question. But in my last job I worked a lot in the States and I actually got asked a lot of "what's it like to be Canadian?" type questions. Those familiar with Canadian advertising probably are aware of Molson's now famous ad "The Rant". |

| I think the questions they outlined there were used because Canadians traveling abroad actually do get asked these questions. I know I got asked several of them. Canadians seem to define themselves by how much they are NOT like Americans since the world (and Canadians) tend to equate the two. After all, look at the massive Canadian presence in American entertainment: John Candy, Pamela Anderson Lee, William Shatner, Dan Aykroyd, James Cameron, Jim Carrey, Micheal J. | Yes, we do have running water and flush toilets. Yes, my home has electricity and we don't need our own generator. I probably don't know <insert name> "from Canada", though I'm sure they're really nice. I do not live in an igloo or a teepee. I do not have cougars and grizzlies waiting to eat me outside my front door. |
