Shark I bought my GSX1100G, "Shark" quite by accident. Like many good things, I did not know for certain what I had when I got it. I was on vacation in Delaware (that's a state, not part of New York or Virginia) and went browsing at L&D Suzuki on Dupont Highway in Dover. (These are great guys, by the way, so if you get in the neighborhood you ought to stop in.) Anyhow, they had a lot of cool new bikes, that there was no way I could afford, and some clean-looking used machines out front. I thought I wanted a cruiser, (Intruder) but alas, it was too expensive as well. Was I never to find a bike for me? Off to the side was a curious-looking beast-bike all decked out in gray and looking unloved. I took a good look at it and (having owned a 1982 GS) was intrigued. Of course, a test ride had me more than intrigued in no time, and I bought the bike that very day. I've made certain improvements to the bike: A new seat from the craftsmen at J & J Upholstery in Hobart, OK. Gary handcrafted me a place for my butt using only a picture of the Corbin Gunfighter saddle and an electric carving knife. Bandit 1200 case guards and the Sharp Tank Bag are from Southwest Suzuki in Lawton, OK. These are as fine a bunch of guys as you'd want for parts and information. Give them a call @ 580-357-9929 if you don't believe me. Of course I've had the fork seals replaced twice, and the fork tubes themselves once. I have Progressive springs on the saggy front end and the rear shock was replaced this year. More improvements are in the works. |
