My WLS Journey
7-01-01, Contacted Chris @ Dr. McCarty's office.  Chris said I need a refural and has scheduled me for the September Seminar.

7-19-01, Received my refurral from my PCP.

9-4-01, Received my confirmation from Dr. M's office for Setember 13th seminar.

9-21-01,  Attended the seminar at Baylor, the Doc's are fantastic.  Filled out all my paper work and now waiting approval.

10-23-01, Had to go on yet another Physician Approved Diet.  Chris put all my paper work together and sent to Aetna.

11-7-01,  Called Aetna, spoke to the nurse and she informed me that I have been approved.  I called Chris and he confirmed I am APPROVED.  I was approved for Dr. Kuhn.  I spoke to Dr. Kuhns nurse and I have a consult date of November 13. 2001.  I'm on my way.

11-13-01, Had my consult today, Dr. Kuhn is a wonderful man.  My surgery is scheduled for January 18, 2002.  Two months away.  I cannot believe it is just around the corner.  Now it's time to start drinking more water, walking more and trying to get myself ready for my big day.

12-13-01, I go Monday December 17th for my Upper GI at Baylor in Dallas.  Actually EDG with Dr. Connor.

12-18-01,  Got my results on my EDG, everything was OK, Surgery is a go.

1-10-02,  Attended a nutrition class for Baylor WLS patients, got a wealth of information.

1-16-02,  Went to Baylor and did my pre-op testing.  Blood work, Chest X-rays, and EKG.

1-18-02, My big day.  Reported to Roberts Surgical Center at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas for 5:30 am.  Surgery was scheduled for 7:30 with Dr. Joseph Kuhn.  Dr. Kuhn indicated that I was a text book case.  The Baylor staff was absolutely the BEST and of course Dr. Kuhn saved my life.

3-16-02, Well, it's been awhle since I posted here.  I am 8 weeks post op and down 87 pounds.  I have good days and bad days.  I still HATE food, nothing taste good to me.  I also do not like to drink.  The only thing that taste real good is s/f popsicles and Smoothie King Lean Body fruit protein drinks.
Would I do it again, yes in a heart beat.  Dr. Kuhn said in about 3 more months my body should be getting back to normal.

4-8-02, It's been 11 weeks and I'm down 101 pounds.  Starting to get my energy back and feeling pretty good.  I still have a problem with drinking but I'm working on that.

6-1-02, Down 124 pounds.

7-22-02, Down to 274, total loss to date is 140 pounds.

8-26-02, Jumped on the scal this morning and down to 259.  Total loss is 154 pounds.  I have about 80 more pounds to go.  Life is good to me.  I feel like a new person.  It's almost time to go out and buy new cloths again.  Everything is too big on me.  I guess that is a good thing.

9-30-02, Did the LIght the Nights Walk in Plano last night.  A three mile walk.  I made it.  I would have never dreamed of doing a walk 8 months ago.  Weight as of taday, 252.

12-23-02, Two days before Christmas and I'm feeling great.  I'm down to 237.  I have set up an apt. with Dr. Morales a Plastic Surgeon for a consult.  That will be on the 29th of January.

2-5-03, Well, it has been a while since I have posted.  I am now at 233 pounds.  A total of 180 pounds gone forever.  I saw Dr. Morales last week for my TT, wat a wonderful Dr.  He indicated he will be taking off about 15 pounds... YIPPIE..

3-12-03, My abdominoplasty (TT) has been approved by Aetna.  My surgery will be March 20th, 7am at Baylor University, Dallas Texas.

4-4-03, My TT went off without a hitch.  Dr. Morales took off 13.5 pounds and tightened me up real good.  I had my two week check up this wee, Dr. Morales took out my drains.  I have to wair my compression gurdle or spandix biking shorts for another 4 weeks.

9-01-03,  Down to 213. Total weight loss of 200 pounds.  I have about 20 more to go.  The weight loss has slowed down but that is to be expected.  I will continue to follow the program and I'm sure it will come off and I will reach my goal weight.

1-18-04  Well, today is my 2 year anniversary.  I am still at 200 pounds lost and the scale has not moved since March.  I still want to lose 20 or so pounds.  Dr. Arnold at Baylor seems to think I have lost everything, I don't think so..I have come this far I'm gonna get the next 20 or so off.  I am determined.
Life is so good after WLS...I now "Eat to Live".  I no longer "Live to Eat"...
