| The Honorable Franklin D. R. Lyons, Sr., Most Worshipful Grand Master of Virginia appointed Past Master Clifton S. Johnson Sr. as Assistant District Deputy Grand Master (ADDGM) in October 2002. Prior to this appointment he served on the Grand Lodge Social Action Committee, and the Grand Lodge Technology committee. ADDGM Johnson was born on November 26, 1955 in Amelia County Virginia to Rebecca Johnson and the late Clifton W. Johnson. He is the third of five children. ADDGM Johnson is married, has two children, four grandchildren, and two godchildren. He received his education in the Amelia County school system and graduated in 1974. He attended Virginia State College (now Virginia State University) and received his Bachelors of Business Administration from Averett University, Danville, Virginia. He has also earned a certificate of completion from the University of Virginia's Darden Minority Business Executive Program. He spent 14 years in the U.S. Army where he was a computer technician. His assignments and travels included Germany, France, England, Spain, Mexico, the Netherlands, 30 states within the Continental United States. During his service he earned many awards and honors including the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3rd Oak Leaf Cluster), and the German Marksmanship (Gold) award. PM Johnson has been active in many civic organizations both abroad and at home. Some of these have been President of the PTA (Bremerhaven, Germany), Coach ( Bremerhaven Youth basketball 1984, 1985), Coach (Women's basketball 1986 Bremerhaven, Germany), Coach (Gum Springs Youth Football 1990 - 1992), and Vice President Minority Parents of Mount Vernon High School. PM Johnson is a member of Alfred Street Baptist church where he has served as President of Membership Group #9, member of the Men Usher board, and Mentor ( Prison Ministry) and member of the Church softball team. PM Johnson is currently Vice President and Senior Project Manager of SMART Technology in Alexandria. Past Master Johnson was initiated in 1985 at New Light Lodge # 67 (Bremerhaven Germany, Jurisdiction of the state of Washington).
