WISE BLOOD
This movie was a real revelation. John Huston has created this sort of surrealist story about this crazy preacher who meets crazy people and just goes mad. It's geniunely funny in much of its indecipherability but it also plays on the hypocrisy of religion and the growing cult of new personalities taking control of people and making money out of the word of god. It's really amazing watching an old film that manages to keep your attention and be so fresh decades after its release, and this is one such film. Outstanding.
