MIGHTY PERFORMANCES IN THE MIGHTY

The mighty is a tale about two seventh grade outsiders in a school who overcome the hardships of their problems with a strong friendship. We start off with Max, a huge and tall seventh grader who gets looked as though he is a Godzilla. A loner who's father killed his mother - he is constantly harassed by a group of kids. He is teased to the point of tears and dreams about the psychological abuse he cops at school. He also repeated seventh grade twice because of his apparently inferior mind. However, next door moves in a "cripple". He is the opposite - small and puny barely able to walk with a severe medical condition that stunts his bone growth. Together, they find in each other things they don't have. Max is able to provide the physical strength and the other kid (don't remember his name - but played by macauley kulkins brother) has brains. They invoke the principles of the kinghts of Arthur and spread their goodness around.

This movie is about triumph and overcoming barriers. It may be unrealistic in its portrayal of how the bullied overcome - but I think children should be made to watch this film - it might make them more alert to the affect that bullying can have on a child - no matter how capable they seem at being able to take it. PS. Excellent acting performances by Sharon Stone and Gillian Anderson (I didn't recognise her at first - totally southern accent and all)
