AN IDEAL HUSBAND

This is a well done production with some excellent acting. Cate Blanchett is excellent of course playing her role. This is ofcourse, based on the Oscar Wilde play, and amazingly, there remains a relevance to our times. The lead character, played by Rupert Everett, is a bachelor who basically has a life long love affair with himself. Considering how out times have become so selfish, it is quite an excellent observation. Another observation made is the importance of information - very good prediction, though in a different context. However, Everett's character is the most honorable - behind that mask is hidden goodness, etc, that befits a lord. The plot keeps to conservative ideals about nobility and the role of men and women, but it's still better than some other costume dramas - mainly helped by the script which contains those twists and turns that have in many ways become cliches due to their overuse in Hollywood narratives. Minnie Driver is also excellent in her role. That's all I've got to say about it cause I have heaps more reviews to write.
