You Know You Write Too Much When... Originally compiled by: D-kun, Master of Prose, Champion of the Keys, He Whose Ego Cannot be Contained by a 13G HD :) (dfloyd84@yahoo.com) Additional symptoms contributed by: (I have no contributers yet!) - Every waking moment is spent thinking of what to pit your main character(s) against in the next chapter. - Thirty chapters is not enough. - Forty CHARACTERS is not enough. - A half-dozen separate, unrelated stories is not enough! - Each with a plethora of cast members to keep track of! - One story has a whole mythos to go witth it. (Dude, cut back on writing!) - Every story has a whole mythos to go with it. (Get help NOW!) - Self-insertion is a regular thing in yyour writing. - You scrutinize every chapter, every alllusion made by every character, just to make a timeline that correlates with everything. - And you add events that haven't happened in the story, just because they flesh out your mythos. - But you're not making it for yourself, because you know verbatim what happens at every point in every story. - Every paper you hand in has your charaacters and ideas doodled in the margins. - And your teacher(s) have seen it so often they don't notice it anymore. - You write a story for EIGHT YEARS and STILL don't think it's finished! - After ten years, you pitch it and start it again. - Lemon chapters are not too far behind in your deranged mind. - MSTing your work is your idea of relaxxing. - Your "My Documents" folder is a half-mmeg of just your unfinished works. - or a whole meg. - or over two megs (mine is 3.48MB at this time) - or a gig or better. - Your keyboard is showing signs of extrreme wear and tear. - The fifth keyboard you went through this month is showing signs of W&T. - You can type at alarming speeds. (Youu should hear me typing!) - Those speeds make career typists jealous. - Virtually everything (animate or inaniimate) has some hidden meaning or pun in another language (Toriyama-sensei...). - You don't have a social life, spendingg all your free time writing. - You decide to completely rewrite a ratther good epic for the sole reason that you rewrote another epic that preceded it. - You and your publisher are on a first name basis. - You and everyone at the publishing house are on a first name basis. ----- Comments, suggestions, and additions can be mailed to D-kun at the address above.
