All these images were hand-drawn and scanned as BMP files, then cropped, resized, and reformatted into 100K JPG files, coloured in Adobe Photoshop (most of them), and JPG compressed into files around 60K each. I take a long time making these, as I strive to make each piece of art faithful to the characters that they portray.
Several are not up for several reasons, incompleteness being the primary one. I have so much stuff to do that it gets difficult to get these done.
New art at the bottom.
Two Faces of Falkyn: This is the first real piece I've done that features the main character, and this is both of his forms: traveller and ninja. I may decide to update this with better poses, but if I do, then it won't be for a while. 10/31/01
The Outcasts: This one is the first pieces I've done in a very long time that did not rely on a reference. It shows all four Outcasts in a group shot, and it is very well done. This has been updated with a finer-tuned version. 08/08/01
The Outcasts II: This is what I believe Kerad truly looks like: a bishounen with a big chip on his shoulder. I had originally planned to put all the Outcasts together, but doing so would ruin the mood of this picture. 09/20/01
I Am The Author: Self-portrait, using a Boris Vallejo piece as a reference. Could also be called "I Am Fu Manchu." The green over-shirt is actually plaid, but I would drive myself crazy trying to do that. A remake of an old version, using the same image, on 9"x12", which was small and ugly. 05/21/01
The Training Begins: Falkyn and Li'na starting the combat training sessions. This image falls between chapters 2 and 3. Look on page 44 of Sword & Fist to see where this one came from. 04/09/01
The Dark Soldier: This was originally called "Sword Demon," but "The Dark Soldier" is a better description. This may remind you of the scene in the Rurouni Kenshin manga, where Aoshi is standing on the roof, holding the severed heads of his Oniwabanshuu. 05/05/01
The Dark Soldier II: Another solo of Kerad, one of the first not to rely heavily heavily on references. I tried to change the face on the original, but that destroyed it, and I had to make a new one; this is it. This one has been updated with better shading. 09/09/01
Kerad & Krew: This image shows Gunther Wallbreaker, Kerad Dyilf, and Malra Mytil. Gunther and Kerad were modeled on Ruroni Kenshin manga panels, and Malra was modeled on Goldmoon from the cover of Dragons of Autumn Twilight. Gunther's wings are almost impossible to do, trying to get the symmetry and a semblance of realism is frustrating. 05/21/01
The Cambion: This is the third solo image of Gunther Wallbreaker I've done, but the first that I've scanned. The first two used Vallejo images as bases, but the second one was horrible. This one, using Luis Royo's "Dinamix Diamond Sword" as a model, is one of the better images. His wings are much better in this one. 06/17/01
The Divine Demon: Rock from Soul Edge served as a good starting point for the giant Tenma. Unfortunately, I am not satisfied with how disproportionate he looks compared to all the rest. 01/13/01
The Dark God Schemes: The old Dragon magazines (around the 230's) had excellent art, especially the advertisements. The Unspeakable One sits on his throne, scheming how to wreak destruction. 02/06/01
The Witch of the Desert: Chien Duraang doesn't show up until the last chapter, but she appears early in Shades of Grey and is a main character in New Faces, Old Foes. I used Ruha's picture in the Heroes' Lorebook for this one, and this is the first to include a background. 01/18/01
The Android D: This is not only the first piece of art to feature D in any way, but it is also my first computer colour job. Fans of The Guyver will notice the faint resemblance. For those not in the know, "D" was my quasi-avatar when Tory Brown and I MSTed the original Falkyn story.
Vampire Hunter "D": No, this is not fanart; this is D (above) cosplaying as the famous vampire hunter.
The Bad Guys 1: The villains of the first two part of the Arcanian Saga are depicted in this picture. I have to go back and redo this, however; my co-author is not pleased with the way it turned out.
The Bad Guys 2: The villains of Prophecy's Fulfilment. I am not pleased with the way this turned out, and now I'm trying to go back and redraw each villain, but I'm hitting my head against a wall with some proportions.
Two Faces of Falkyn 2: I don't have to ask if you think this is a better version of the one above. This one has better proportions, better outfits, and better poses than the old one. 01/01/02
Daughter of the Night: Kerad's eternal antagonist, the vampire Elizabeth. 01//01/02
The Cambion II: This one has the best wings out of any Gunther Wallbreaker picture, and I think the look is the best he's ever had. He's definitely a guy you don't want to meet in a dark alley. 01/14/02
The Alhoon: I took this on as a challenge, and I only just scanned and colored it. An alhoon is an undead mind flayer, a brain-eating refugee from a Lovecraft short story. 03/13/02
The Dark Soldier III: Yet another Kerad shot. This one is one of the best that I've done, but I'm not sure about the background colour.
Shinobi: This is the finalized look for Falkyn. I tried to get it just right so it can display the hidden strength of this ninja. 05/29/02
Two Faces of Falkyn 3: This should be the last Two Faces picture. Sorry about not having the cloak, but I like the way it turned out. 09/24/02
20 Years in Ravenloft: "If you spent twenty years in Ravenloft, would you look any better?" 09/25/02
The Dark Elf: This is Dokem Nupaji, the homicidal drow we all know and...er, know. Yes, he is doing that. 09/28/02
The Boss: No, not Bruce Springsteen; Keane Kominda, "the Boss" to most of Israe's organized crime. Only a handful of people know who he is. 09/30/02
Arik: From the new Ravenloft domain of Hibernate, Arik is every parent's worst nightmare. 01/31/03
Enter the Dark Soldier: The leader of the new Outcasts. 02/18/03
Silas Fitzroy: The adopted son of Kerad, Silas is his staunchest ally. 02/18/03
Ana: The youngest of the new Outcasts, a half-Vistani girl. 02/18/03
Amaaera: Another new Outcast, Amaaera is a political exile from Sithicus. 02/18/03
The Macrocosm: Phenomonal Cosmic Power! That's the name of the game when you're dealing with the awesome might of the Macrocosm. 06/17/03
I Am the Author (Mage Edition): Or "Is it the Shoes?" 06/17/03
Fire Goddes: This is Nayrene, the ageless sorceress of the Arcanian Saga. 06/17/03
Jon sar Makay: The mightiest of the Arcanian heroes, Jon is a giant among men and a warrior without peer. 10/05/03
