Network in the Schools provides an ingredient that is lacking in our society
We firmly believe that while society needs to continue to apply "Band-Aids" to the symptoms of our basic problems, we also must attack the roots of these problems. If we can raise more children whose emotional needs are better met, they will have more to give as teenagers and as adults.
Fewer and fewer children are growing up in supportive, nurturing environments. At one time, many children found at least some level of caring in the neighborhood, if not in the family. Now, even the neighborhood structure has changed. Society needs to find ways to help meet those needs not fulfilled when a child comes home after school to an empty house, when the house is full, but no attention is given, or when something bad is occurring of which nothing can be said.
