Teaching "Time on Task"

One of the reasons that our schools are falling behind in academics is that in many schools classroom behavior has degenerated to the point that teachers' time on task has been reduced substantially.

Experience with the NIS program in New York has demonstrated that the positive changes wrought in students' behavior can result in time on task increasing from five minutes to thirty-five minutes!
