First Lieutenant, Army Air Forces, United States Army. For extraordinary achievement while serving as pilot of a B-17 Aircraft on heavy bombardment missions against the enemy. Lieutenant Remmenga, by his determination, flying skill, and courageous devotion to duty, materially contributed to the success of the attacks against Zolts-Erfurt, Germany, 3 March, 1945; against Kiel, Germany, 3 April, 1945; and against Dresden, Germany, 17 April, 1945, despite extremely adverse weather conditions and intense anti-aircraft fire. His actions on these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Army Air Forces.
