UTFree - A programmers tool to make the UniversalThread (UT) a more useful place.

This tool is mostly targeted at the Free users of the UT, but I do believe that even the paying UT members will find this a useful little tool.

Usage:
1) unzip the contents of utfree.zip to a directory of it's own
2) in VFP6 DO UTFREE

Requirements:
1) VFP6
2) IE4 or 5 (I've only tested with IE5.01)

Beta release notes:

There seems to be a lot of timing issues with the IE DOM. If it throws errors on you please let me know via thread UTFree on the UT. You can also discuss this over at

The thread button will pull down an entire thread from the UT. It does this by making requests for each message in the Map. It will bounce the frame through each message as it downloads, the titlebar shows the progress. Once the button reenables the work of getting the thread is done and you can go about the business of reading it.

 1) You must have a message of the thread in the lower left frame of the browser.
 2) The thread is locally cached in a cursor (yes that means a possible local data store of the messages would be possible for personal use only)

The Window checkbox controls if the thread takes over the whole IE window, you turn this on/off at will. Sometimes for large threads I find it beneficial to have the extra space used for the messages. The Back button can be used to get you back to the last framed view.

The MoveUp button will take the contents of the lower right frame and move them to the upper right frame. Nice uses of this feature:

 1) Open the calendar, select a date letting it open in the lower frame, click the MoveUp button and now the calendar is where it has always belonged IMHO. Note The back button allows you to restore the earlier contents of that frame.

 2) Click your name in a message header, go down to your messages count, click it, click MoveUp now all of your threads are up there to navigate through.

 3) Put any darn thing you want to put in the upper frame.

Coming soon:
 1) Subthread view
 2) XML (future maybe?)

Enjoy,
df
