PlayStation 3
Sony have delayed the European launch date of the ps3 due to production issues - the machine will now be released March 2007.

Stuffed to the brim with top secret ninja technology (possibly), the PS3 promises to level the competition by simply looking at it. With a sneer. It's a beast, but who can blame it? Featuring wireless controllers, USB ports, Memory Stick compatibility and more besides, the console is ready to connect to just about anything straight from the box. Boasting an HDMI output for Hi-Definition TV as well as the standard AV-out that you know and love from your current PlayStation, Sony are clearly aiming to take Microsoft head on in the HD era.

The controller has also now been officially announced, returning to the more traditional stylings of the familiar Dual Shock pad, but with a couple of additional features. The pads are wireless, the lower shoulder buttons have now become triggers, and the pad features a 6-axis motion sensing system, allowing games to be controlled by the movement of the pad itself.

Furthermore, the machine will come with a 60GB hard drive allowing content to be downloaded from the internet and stored. If that's not enough, then get ready for Blu-Ray - an all new disk format storing a massive 50GB per disk, allowing developers plenty of space to stretch their imaginations, as well as giving movies enough room to look truly awesome.

Gameswise there's plenty on the way, with all your favourite games putting on their best HD frock and 5.1 makeup, and a whole host of original titles are bound to be bubbling away in development heaven. Prepare to be amazed by Heavenly Sword, Final Fantasy XIII, Devil May Cry 4, Killzone, MotorStorm, Virtua Fighter 5 and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots plus many more.
