Dexter Mejia is a middle child born of a middle-class family in Metro Manila. He is the only person in his clan who took great interest in literature and writing. He earned his university degree in English Studies from the University of the Philippines. His four years in college gave him the writing skills he was hungry for and it also enriched his interest in the performing arts. Dexter's poems have already been published in some of the country's respected magazines. Moreover, his list of performances stretches from the foot of Mt. Makiling (in Laguna) to the halls of the Philippine Senate. He also writes plays and short stories for children. Many of his works discuss the discuss the oppression of minorities in his country. Dexter dabbles in teaching as many of the people in his clan are teachers. He thinks that this job is the most honorable one in the world. He is currently in Thailand as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher. This aspiring writer plans on taking his master's degree in Theater Arts. He dreams of continuing his studies in the immediate future. |
