Biblical Counselling
Christian Counselling

Biblical counselling is applying the principles of scripture and prayer to helping others. Biblical counselling is something that ministers and church leaders have done at some point. Even elders of the church and mature Christians can operate in this realm when they have a proper covering.

Dependant on which Christian organization you are a member, you don't have to have a degree. Counselling is an obvious aspect of ministry. Though, some Christians have been known to charge fees for their counselling. When fees are charged, a person needs to be approved to do so by their denomination and their local government. However, receiving free monetary gifts for Biblical Counselling does not require governmental or denominational approval, but denominational approval is recommended.

True Biblical Counselling doesn't include secular inferences nor those of popular science, psychology, sociology, or alternative religions. True Biblical Counselling entails applying scripture to needs and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide your words to help meet the needs.

Keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is the ultimate counsellor. Also, you can look to your local pastor primarily to set up appointments of this nature.

I do not recommend seeing counsellors who charge a fee whether they are Christians or not. If the said Christian attempts to apply secular principles of any sort to the counselling session or any that is unscriptural, then discontinue any further meetings with the counsellor.
