| Baptism in the Holy Spirit Empowering the Christian to be a bold witness. Apostle Paul meets up with a group of people: He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. Acts 19:2 Subsequent to salvation is the baptism in the Holy Spirit. When we do receive Christ, we accept Him into our heart as Savior and Lord. It is almost like we are a glass that becomes 1/3 full. Then comes obedience to Christ by being baptized in water, living a life according to the Bible, and striving to say "no" to sin. It is like being 2/3 full. When we are ready for spiritual depth in our lives and when we become grounded enough in the Lord, we should ask the Lord to baptize us with His Holy Spirit. We need to be 3/3 or completely full. Then as we begin to walk in God's Holy Spirit annointing, we begin to overflow due to the fact that God just keeps pouring in. My question to you is, "Are you overflowing to others?" The Promise of The Father (The Holy Spirit comes to earth) Words from Jesus before He ascended: And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Luke 24:49 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. Acts 1:4 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 The followers of Christ go to Jerusalem to wait: And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, (number of names together were about an hundred and twenty). And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave ability to them to speak. And Jews were living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation of those under the heaven. But this sound occurring, the multitude came together and were confounded, because they each heard them speaking in his own dialect. And all were amazed and marveled, saying to one another, Behold, are not all these, those speaking, Galileans? And how do we hear each in our own dialect in which we were born, Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those living in Mesopotamia, both Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, both Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the regions of Libya over against Cyrene, and the temporarily residing Romans, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians; in our own languages we hear them speaking the great deeds of God? And all were amazed and puzzled, saying to one another, What would this wish to be? But ridiculing, others said, They are full of sweet wine. But standing up with the Eleven, Peter lifted up his voice and spoke out to them, Men, Jews, and all those living in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words: For these are not drunk, as you imagine, for it is the third hour of the day. But this is that which has been spoken by the prophet Joel, "And it shall be" in the last days, God says, "I will pour from My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy;" "and your young men shall see visions," "and your old men shall dream dreams;" "and also I will pour out My Spirit on My slaves and slave women in those days," and they shall prophesy.
