Drinking - Alcohol - Alcoholism

Be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit, Ephesians 5:18

So behave properly, as people do in the day. Don't go to wild parties or get drunk or be vulgar or indecent. Don't quarrel or be jealous.
Romans 13:13

But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 24:48-51

Apostle Paul prescribed a little wine for medicinal purposes.:
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. 1 Timothy 5:23

Titus chapter 2 states that ministers, elders, and regular men and women are not to drink much at all. But, the Bible absolutely condemns getting drunk.

If drinking at all causes another to doubt God then don't drink at all:
It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Romans 14:21

Practical Guidelines:
1) If you are in a ministry leadership position then I suggest no alcohol consumption at all. Tit 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. Tit 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;  Tit 1: 8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
2) The world has good water access today, unlike it was in Bible times. We needn't survive on bottled wine now.
3) Don't drink socially. It just leads to problems. Ro 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.;    1Co 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.;   1Co 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
4) I suggest no alcohol consumption at all for the Christian unless prescribed by a doctor. Tit 2:6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.;  Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Pr 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
5) Obviously, don't drink and drive.
