ACLU: American Civil Liberties Union The ACLU was founded by the American-communist lawyer Roger Nash Baldwin in 1920. Baldwin opposed World War I and wrote a book supporting Soviet Communism. In When Baldwin gave the founding speech for the ACLU, he stated that the goal of the ACLU is to make America a communist nation. As of 2005, the ACLU had 400,000 members.
