Penta Penguin Enter the following code at the title screen: Hold down L1 and R1, then press Down, Right, Triangle, Down, Left, Triangle, Up. back to top Shortcuts Crash Cove You will find a small pool of water after the first ramp. To the left of the pool is a little hill. If you race towards the hill, as you exit the water you will be on an upwards slope. Jump at the top of this incline and you can propel yourself to the top of the hill. In a Relic Race, there will be three time boxes leading you up the hill. If you're having trouble, try following these time boxes. On top of the hill you will find a bridge that leads to a very meaningless pirate ship. Sewer Speedway As you emerge from one of the three red tunnels at the beginning of the race, look for an opening on the right wall. Start from the left side of the track and race down the halfpipe. Race back up the halfpipe directly under the opening. If you have enough speed and you jump at the right time, you can make it into the opening. Having an Aku Aku mask or a turbo power up isn't necessary but would help. Tiger Temple After you exit the tunnel with the fire breathing totems, look for a large statue of a head on the left side of the screen. Below the head is a secret passage that will only open if you hit it with a weapon (i.e. Aku Aku mask, bombs, etc). In a Relic Race, this door will always be open. Papu's Pyramid Once you climb to the top of the pyramid and pass the 2 purple biting plants, you may notice an opening in the guard rail as the track turns right. You can pass through here and jump to a square platform to cut into your race time. Keep in mind that you can make this jump without an Aku Aku invincibility or a turbo boost power up, but it is very difficult. Also, you will have to jump again to make it back to the main path. Shortcut #2 As you approach the hairpin turn at the end of the course, jump off of the right side of the track as the wall ends. Continue to turn to the right during the jump. If you have an Aku Aku mask or turbo power up, you should have enough speed to make it to the track on the other side. Once you land on the track, you may have to hit your brakes to stay on the track. Blizzard Bluff When you reach the first large patch of ice, follow the path to your left. There is a little snow hill here that you can use to propel yourself to the other side of a pond and back to the main track. You will need to time this jump perfectly and it is only possible when you have an Aku Aku invincibility or turbo power up. You can also make this jump if you hit your third boost of a power slide right before the jump. Dragon Mines The first time you see the railroad track, follow it into the wall on your right. Do not attempt this unless you have an Aku Aku invincibility power up. Otherwise the mine carts will crush you and slow you down immensely. Be sure to stay to your right as you follow the track. Polar Pass Just beyond the exit to the tunnel there is a wall with a row of arrows pointing to the right. You can jump over this wall to save a little time. What you need to do is jump at the top of the incline just before this wall. Try breaking the "?" box above the wall. If you are successful, you'll make it over the wall with ease. Cortex Castle When you enter the part of the castle with the wooden track, you can use the incline to jump to an alternate path. This alternate path is on the left hand side just as you enter the castle. You can make this jump without an Aku Aku invincibility or turbo boost power up, but I wouldn't recommend trying it without one. Hot Air Skyway Wen you come to the first jump with the green turbo ramp, jump slightly to the right. There is an alternate landing there and if you make it you will save a second or two. This is a very difficult jump and you have to time it perfectly to land safely. Oxide Station Just before the second jump are two green turbo arrows one right after another. After you race over the second arrow, try to make a 90% turn to your left at the top of the hill. Jump with the R1 button right before you run into the wall. If you time the jump correctly and have the right angle, you can jump over the wall and land on the track below. This is a very difficult shortcut to make and it may take numerous attempts before you are successful. back to top Additional Secrets Hidden Battle Mode Arenas In Arcade mode, place first in the overall competition for all four cups on the easy difficulty to open the Parking Lot battle arena.
