Modes Adventure A one player game where you race through all the levels of the game until you finally meet up with Nitrus Oxide. On your way to saving the world, collect every trophy, relic, letter, key, CTR token, and gem to earn 100%. Time Trial Time Trial is a one player game where you race against the clock. Choose any level and speed through it as fast as you can. There are no other racers or obstacles to slow you down. If you happen to complete a race with a fast enough time, N. Trophy will challenge you to a race in a Ghost form. If you defeat N. Trophy, Nitrus Oxide will challenge you in his Ghost form. If you defeat the N. Trophy Ghost on all 16 courses, N. Trophy will become a playable character. If you defeat the Nitrus Oxide Ghost on all 16 courses, the Scrapbook will be available on the Main Menu. A yellow star next to a track's name shows that you have defeated the N. Trophy Ghost for that course. A silver star next to a track's name signifies that you have defeated the Nitrus Oxide Ghost for that course. Arcade Choose a one or two player game that pits you against computer racers in a single or cup race. In a single race, you can set the difficulty and the number of laps. In Arcade mode you can select a Single Race or choose to enter a Cup where you race our tracks in a row for points. In a Single Race, one or two players race with the remaining computer drivers. You can set the difficulty of the races to Easy, Medium or Hard, pick your track and set the number of laps to 3, 5 or 7. In a Cup Race, one or two players race with 4 additional computer drivers. You can choose which Cup to race and set the difficulty to Easy, Medium, or Hard. At the beginning of an Arcade game, the only difficulty available is "Easy". Finish in first place to win a trophy and save your cup progress. Place first in the overall competition for all four cups on the "Easy" difficulty to unlock the "Medium" difficulty and the "Parking Lot" battle arena Place first in the overall competition for all four cups on the "Medium" difficulty to unlock the "Hard" difficulty and the "North Bowl" battle arena. Place first in the overall competition for all four cups on the "Hard" difficulty to unlock the "Lab Basement" battle arena. Stars appear on the select cup race screen to show that you have completed a cup on a certain difficulty. A blue star on a cup picture tells you that you have completed the "Easy" difficulty for that cup. A yellow star signifies that you have completed the "Medium" difficulty for that cup. And a white star lets you know that you have completed the "Hard" difficulty for that cup. There are four different Cups each made of four different courses. Wumpa Cup Crash Cove – Tiger Temple - Blizzard Bluff – Coco Park Crystal Cup Roo's Tubes – Dingo Canyon – Dragon Mines – Sewer Speedway Nitro Cup Mystery Caves – Papu's Pyramid – Cortex Castle – Tiny Arena Crash Cup Polar Pass – N. Gin Labs – Hot Air Skyway – Slide Coliseum VS. Two to four players compete on the track of your choice or race in a cup competition. Battle Up to four players combat each other in one of seven special battle arenas. You can participate in a "every racer for himself" or "team" competition. In team play, you can play 2 on 2, 2 on 1, 3 on 1 or 1 on 1 on 2 games. Two to four players combat each other on one of seven special battle arenas. On the Battle Setup Screen, you choose the setup for the battle you are about to participate in. Select a Type and Length for your battle. Point Limit Mode - First player to achieve 5, 10 or 15 points wins. Time Limit Mode - The player with the highest points after 3, 6 or 9 minutes wins. Life Limit Mode - Each player has a set number of lives (3,6 or 9) and the battle has a time limit (3, 6 minutes or forever). Player with the most lives left at the end of the time limit wins. Select your teams Three and four players can team up for two against one, two against two, three against one or one against one against two battles. To set up teams highlight "Teams" and press the D-Pad to shift your racer to the same colored square as the racer you want to team up with. Weapons Toggle through all the weapons and turn them on or off for your battle. To turn a weapon on or off, highlight it and press "X". back to top Pause Menu Resume Resume your current race. Aku Aku or Uka Uka Hints (On Adventure Map) You can highlight the hints Aku Aku or Uka Uka have already given to review them. Press the "X" button to see the hint. Restart Restart the race at the beginning. Change Character (Time Trial, Arcade, VS., and Battle) Change one or all characters being used. Change Level (Time Trial, Arcade, VS. and Battle) Change the level you are racing. Change Setup (Battle) Adjust the current Battle settings. Options Adjust the sound fx, music, and voice volumes. Dual Shock (On Adventure Map) Toggle the vibration function On or Off. Quit Quit and return to the main menu.
