Q. Who is the best character in the game?

A. The fastest character in the game is Dingodile and is the best choice for the advanced racer.    Unfortunately, his handling is rough and he is hard to maneuver around the corners.  Coco is a better choice for beginners.  She is pretty fast and turns very well.  

Q. How do I get gems?

A. Gems are obtained by placing first in the overall competition on the Gem Cups.  The Gem Cups can be found in Gem Stone Valley but they will not open up until you collect four CTR Tokens of the same color as the Gem Cup.  For example: To open the Red Gem Cup, collect the four Red CTR Tokens from Crash Cove, Mystery Caves, Papu's Pyramid, and Blizzard Bluff.

Q. How do I achieve 101%?

A. To attain 101% completion of the game, you must collect all 16 Trophies, all 20 CTR tokens, all 5 Gems and all 18 relics with at least a gold status.  With all this done, you must defeat Nitrus Oxide one final time.  After you finish him off, if you save your game, you will have 101%.

Q. How do you get that 3 second box high in the air in the relic race for Papu's pyramid?

A. As you come out of the long windy turn and approach 3 steep drops, there is a ledge on the left hand side. You can jump over here to get a couple of extra goodies. The jump is very difficult and it all depends on timing and the angle that you take. Try to jump from the corner of the road that you're on. This is how you get that lone 3 second time box that you see hovering in the air at the beginning of the Relic Race.

Q. In Sewer or Later, there are 3 time boxes on a catwalk high above the racetrack.  How do you get up there?

A. As you emerge from one of the three red tunnels at the beginning of the race, look for an opening on the right wall.  Start from the left side of the track and race down the halfpipe.  Race back up the halfpipe directly under the opening.  If you have enough speed and you jump at the right time, you can make it into the opening.

Q. Is there any way to avoid being hit by missiles?

A. There is no sure fire way to avoid being hit every time, but there are a couple of things you can try.  First of all, going around a corner can cause the missile to run into a wall, only if it is far enough away from you.  Also, dropping items such as TNT/Nitro boxes, bottles, and bombs behind you as the missile closes in will sometimes destroy the missile along with the item.  Take a look at how far the missile is from you by pressing the R2 button and looking through you rear-view mirror.

Q. Do I get anything for collecting all gold relics?  platinum relics?

A. For finishing the game with all gold relics you will receive an extra 1% allowing you to finish the game with 101%.  Collecting all platinum relics awards you with nothing.

Q. Can I use secret characters that I unlock in Adventure mode?

A. You can use the secret characters in Time Trial, Arcade, VS., and Battle modes but you cannot use them in Adventure mode.

Q. Is there any way to play as Nitrus Oxide?

A. Unfortunately, no.

Q. Is there any advantage of breaking all the time boxes in a Relic Race? 

A. If you break every time box on a track during a Relic Race, you will receive a "Perfect Bonus" that will remove 10 seconds from your time at the end of the race.
