KEITH HANSEN MEMORIAL DEMOLITION DERBY

REGISTRATION FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 12:30 P.M.

DERBY BEGINS AT 1:00 P.M.

Rules and Regulations

 

1.       Any American made hardtop automobile (with the exception of jeeps, pickup trucks, hearses, 4 wheel drives, carryalls and or tractors) will be allowed.

 

2.       You must have a solid support brace consisting of 2" to 6" pipe with a maximum 6"X6" plate welded or bolted on the ends to prevent pipe from spearing another car, mounted from door to door at a height of 2" to 6" below the top of the seat for driver’s safety.  No cross bracing.  No bracing to the floor.

 

3.       All glass, including headlights, tail lenses, dash glass, including broken glass, must be removed prior to admittance to the grounds.  All rubber on bumpers, door handles and fender trim must be removed.

 

4.       Rear seat must be removed and all dirt and loose debris must be swept from the car.

 

5.       The gas tank must be removed and an approved gas tank must be placed in the area behind the front seat inside of the car.  the original tank cannot be used.   no five gallon gas cans.  The tank must be anchored securely and covered.  A maximum of six (6) gallons of gasoline will be allowed per race.  Boat tanks are recommended.

 

6.       No grader blades allowed.  Must be stock bumper for the same make, model and year.  If it didn’t come with a stock bumper it shouldn’t have one.  No reversing the bumper.  No chains.  No welding to the face of the bumper.  Bumper may be welded to the bracket and the bracket to the frame, with no foreign material allowed.  Shock absorbers may be collapsed and welded with no foreign material allowed.

 

7.       The exterior of all doors must be welded or chained for safety. No welding on the interior of the car, no welding to or on the frame (with the exception of the bumper bracket) and no re-welding factory welds.  No tampering with factory body mounts (i.e. rubber bushings).  Trunk lid, and back door of station wagons may be welded (on the interior) or chained.  Spare tire door on wagons must be either removed or loosely chained. *Hood may have a maximum of 6 hold-down bolts with T-handle, no to exceed three-fourths inches in diameter.  Bolts may be welded to the hood tin, with no angle iron allowed.  Motor mounts may be welded solid.  NO OTHER WELDING OF ANY KIND ALLOWED ANYWHERE!

 

8.       Fenders may be cut, not to exceed 20" radius from center of hub.  No other body alteration of any kind to be allowed.  Suspension must be stock height with no spacers, steps, blocks, extra leaves, or welding allowed.  No wire and no chains.  Springs may have two clamps behind the axle, and one clamp in front of the axle, including factory clamps.  Springs may not be wrapped with any foreign material.  Battery must be moved to the inside of the car, and must be covered and anchored securely.  No ballast in car.

 

9.       Radiators may not be altered or removed.  Fan blades may be taken off. No water barrels or auxiliary cooling for engine allowed.

 

10.   Each door must be painted with a large number on it.

 

11.   The hood must have a minimum of 2, 12" holes cut completely out to permit the use of fire extinguishers.  You must have a minimum of 2 braces from the dash area to the roof to prevent hood from being forced into the car.  Absolutely no T-Fence posts.

 

12.   Transmission coolers allowed only if exposed lines are inside protective covering such as airline hose, garden hose, etc.  To protect against ruptures and spraying hot oil.

 

13.   no wire, chain, cable or bolts, etc. allowed or attached to body, frame, or suspension for reinforcements.  All cars must have working suspension.  No truck shocks.  All shocks must be working and travel a minimum of 2".

 

14.   Tires must be no more than 6 ply load range C DOT passenger car tires only, and must be stated as such on the tire.  No recaps, no studs.  Tubes ok, but no tires inside of tires, and no other ballast allowed.  Maximum of 15 “ tires.

 


15.   Each car is limited to one driver.

 

16.   Drivers must be at least 19 years of age or older.

 

17.    Drivers under 19 years of age must have either a parent or legal guardian on the premises at all times.  Parent or legal guardian must sign a notarized statement at the time of entry, giving under age driver permission to drive.

 

18.   Drivers’ seat belt and helmet are required.

 

19.   All cars must have a fire extinguisher within reach of the driver at all times.

 

20.   Drivers who sign in must drive that car.  No second driver.

 

21.   Absolutely no hitting on the driver’s side door.  Absolutely no head on ramming.

 

22.   Any car checked in and passed will be subject to random inspection at any time.  If any modifications are found, the car will be disqualified with no refund and no chance will be given to remodify.  If a car has ran and then found illegal, any winnings will be forfeited and the car will be disqualified for the rest of the day.

 

23.   Any driver or spectator caught tampering with any Demo Derby car will be ejected from the field for the rest of the day with no refund.

 

24.   The judges will disqualify violators of any of the above rules and regulations immediately.

 

25.   No Imperials allowed.

 

26.   Trophies and cash prizes awarded. 

 

27.   NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 16 WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE PIT AREA BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER THE DEMOLITION DERBY.

 

ANY CAR NOT MEETING SPECIFICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED!

 

 

JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL!!!!
