A man who heard of my interest in graves of the 61-65 war telephoned me 2 weeks ago and said his grandfather was a sailor in the war ,well............today I visited him at his home ,he is 79 yo and has just had a stroke which he is recovering well from, he ( like most people here) has NO knowledge of the war so I believed the story he told me.

He said his grandfather was John Tallentire and he was born in 1848 in Bridlington,Yorkshire and he showed me his photograph. He said his grandfather was on the CSS Alabama (!!!) and was on the ship when it was sunk ,he also said his grandfather was also on the CSS Bull Run in 1865.

Now.......This man this man had no idea what the Alabama was or how she was sunk ,and I believe him completely. He was amazed when I told him about the ship.

I've never heard of the CSS Bull Run, could this have been one of the "Laird Rams" Bull Run seems a strange name for a CS vessel ? Was there a CSS Manassas?

I'm sure you will find this of interest

THIS MANS GRAVE HAS BEEN FOUND AND HAS NO MARKER, perhaps you would like to discuss this point further

Yours  John
