Martin Turner Cup

Peter Houseman Youth League U13  1  Testway Youth League U13  1

The return fixture between the two leagues, Testway winning the first tie by two goals.  Barton Stacey’s Sam Hadlington and William de Cani selected for the Testway side, Hadlington captaining the side from central midfield, de Cani playing the second half on the left side of midfield.  Peter Houseman had the better of the first half, eventually taking the lead when Down Grange’s Kane Cook headed home a corner.  Testway switched to a five-man midfield in the second half William de Cani replacing Upper Clatford’s striker James Mcarthur.  De Cani’s speed troubling the Peter Houseman back line who subsequently conceded a string of free kicks. Alderbury’s Finn Drury pulled his side level when he lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box, as Testway continued to have the better of the second half; Hadlington, a commanding presence in midfield, a candidate for man of the match.

With three points awarded for a win and one for a draw, the eventual destiny of the Martin Turner Cup will now be decided by the U14s, the two leagues level on points after the nine games played so far by the five different age groups.
