Barton Stacey  2  CK Redbridge  1

Another week, another line up: With Dan de Heaume, Ally Walker, Gary Nowel, Jon Spatcher unavailable, Barry Purdue fielded a youthful striking partnership of Luke Tiller and Nick Oliver, a reasonably settled back line of Chris Oliver, Rhys Betterdige, Guy Wilkinson and Simon Schulze in front of regular keeper Scott Tarrant. The midfield of Martyn Doolin, Alex Iddles, Dan Knott and Wayne Turpin would create chances but would miss the bite of the absent Mickey Dewey.

On a bright frosty morning, and on a skid-pan of a pitch Barton Stacey kicked off, and within ten minutes had taken the lead, Wayne Turpin combining with Luke Tiller to set up Nick Oliver who opened the scoring with a superb left foot strike.  Two minutes later it was Oliver’s turn to set up Luke Tiller who headed narrowly wide.

Dan Knott hit the side netting, before Nick Oliver outpaced the Ck Redbridge back line to score his second of the match.

Two goals in front at half time, Barton were threatening to score more.

Ck started the second half well and pulled a goal back after a scrappy goalmouth scramble.  Barton Stacey continued to create chances, Luke Tiller and Nick Oliver’s increasingly caught off side, as their sprightly legs took them beyond a fading Ck back line.  Scott Tarrant pulled off a superb one handed save from the diminutive CK winger Titch Collicott in the dying minutes to ensure his side took a welcome three points from the game.
