Sestina

I’m really bad at poetry, I think.
But this one will be okay, I hope.
I have a dream
That there will be peace
All around the world;
All the continents, all the countries, as one.

The number for being united is one,
That’s something I know and think.
Being united is something that is needed in this world
And maybe someday we will be, I hope.
It is needed for peace,
For the dream.

Everyone has his or her own dream,
Mine is just one.
I’d like to think of a never-ending peace.
I often think
And I often hope
About things in the world.

I like this world
It gives me plenty to use for my dreams
And plenty to use for my hopes.
But I am just one,
Not everyone thinks as I think.
It will take many thinking, talking, doing for peace.

What the world needs is peace,
Or we may just destroy the world.
We are fighting too much, I think.
It will destroy us, or so I see in my dreams.
We need to stop fighting as one…
I hope it will happen, oh I hope.

The fighting will end in the Middle East, I hope.
If it doesn’t there shall be no peace.
The Pledge of Allegiance mentions the United States as one;
That needs to be the world.
Although I can only dream,
And I can only think.

I can think, I can hope, and I can dream
That someday there will be peace in the world,
All of us as one.
