| Monday, July 31. Miss Absent-minded and Miss Detective I do some laundry and clean the floors while the piano looks very tempting there in the corner. In the window sill sparkles a brand new Concertina-accordion that I have started playing and composing on just recently. My guitar is leaning on a stool in the kitchen. My head is filled with music and I have to take care of all the practical things at home that unfortunately dont fix themselves, before I go back out on the road. My toolbox really needs a good cleaning too. I bought it this spring. There was just no way I could do without it. I have a tendency to be a little absent-minded, and there are a lot of small things to think about when youre travelling from place to place. There are eighteen spaces in the box that I have decorated out of boredom and creativity with small patches with nice patterns. Right now they hold, among other things: Three different types of guitar picks, four different harmonicas, harmonica stands, two capos, one tuner, two sets of guitar strings, some cables, earplugs for the monitor system, polishing stuff for my guitars, matches and vanilla candles (that I like to light on stage). It sounds chaotic, but these are just the ten spaces that I use myself. It did not take long, before my band had moved in too. My cello player took the heartily initiative and made a chocolate room that she maintains with great care. Along the way some junk has gathered, so a cleaning out may be welcome. Maybe I find that Im out of something. And apropos, isnt this just fantastic: During check-in here the other day, my drummer lost a big, black bag that carried a metronome, cowbells and drumsticks. It didnt have a luggage-note on it, so it was impossible to trace it when we arrived. The next day, Miss Detective at Gardermoen Airport called, and told us that she had peeked into the black, anonymous bag, dug into it a little bit further, and found a white sheet of paper that turned out to be our set list from the Quart festival. She recognized my song titles, visited my homepage on the net, found that we were playing in MoiRana, traced us, and had the bag delivered back to a very impressed and grateful owner. |
