| Friday, July 21st Fun is what you make it Time passes slowly, slowly. I alternate between looking out the window at the never-changing green landscape and forward, past the driver, at the digital watch on the dashboard. It's almost the same distance home, as it is to the place where we're about to play tonight. Three and a half hours down, four to go. It's still so early that people are on their way to work, and I'm really lucky I remembered to bring my pillow, even though I got up early. When I think about it, maybe I never lifted my head from it. Time passes slowly.??Even if Im happy with my life right now, and deep downshould perhaps wish for time to stand still because of this, in between it's absolutely horrible when it feels like just that. The restlessness feels even worse than the one I used to feel the day before my birthday when I was little. I'm impatient even though I'm not waiting for anything to happen. I'm full even though I'm hungry. I'm awake even though I really have slept too little.?? Fun is what you make it. I'm planning future birthday presents for my friends. I try to remember all the songs I know that can be sung in canon. I read all the song titles on an album after each other as a sentence, to uncover hidden messages and codes. I make lists like this:?? What's fun about gas stations:?? 1. To watch car ownerssimilar totheir cars. This one is underrated! ? 2. They have videos. Low-priced movies. Films that people have seen and tell you that you cant live one more day without seeing. ? 3. Eating noodles with a stirring pin, warmed up with tea water from the coffee machine. 4. They sell CD's. It's good to close ones eyes and guess who's in the Top10. And its great fun to get back to the rather worn copy of M2M's "Shades of purple", at the third row by the cash desk, at the big gas station in Tnsberg, for the fifth time!? 5. They have yeast dough. At a station at Espa, close by the Gardermoen airport, they claim to have the best muffins in Norway. They have big boards in the store, with charts showing the overwhelming sales of muffins in their budget. It's something like a muffin each 10 seconds. You have to acknowledge such things. The muffins are home-made too, it says on the boards. Each time we ask about this (with a chuckle), if that means that someone actually lives in the gas station. Back in the car we can live on that for at least three minutes. |
