| 28th July 2005 Writing to reach you After a few sunny weeks in July it seems summer in Oslo is coming to an end. I'm writing you from my new home in Oslo, in which I have spent most of my time this summer, writing, rehearsing and getting ready to head into the studio this fall. So I'm in the middle of a hectic, but at the same time very exciting and rewarding process. I'm enjoying every minute of it. I also turned twenty-two (thanks for all your greetings, cards and presents! You're all amazing for remembering...) and I guess I'm officially grown up. At least I remember very clearly looking up to people my age (!) 4-5 years ago. Then again, sixteen seems a lifetime ago. So I guess I'm allright. I was in New York recently and bought myself a sunburst Epiphone mandolin. I always find that it opens up your horizon writing songs on new instruments, so I've been having a blast experimenting with chords and melodies on it. I'll tell you though, that the size of that things takes some time getting used to. It's very different from my beautiful Taylors. By the way, U2 played Oslo last night and I'm so bummed I didn't go. I saw them in Dallas on the Elevation tour, and it was perfect, so I figured there would be no way they could put on a better show than what I saw back then. But I have to admit I was sitting on my hands last night to keep from slapping my face. I guess I'll just have to watch the DVD again. Smiles, Marit. |
