| Marit Larsen Wins The Audience Over With Her Charm Concert: No, you dont have to shout and yell to show your strength. At Lillestrm Kulturhus last evening Marit Larsen showed that the only thing you really need is a little giggling between the songs, and Voila! You got the audience in your hand. Of course it helps to have a rock-solid debut album to pick songs from, a pro six piece band and stage experience longer than the payback plan of your study debts. Charming clumsiness Because Marit Larsen had no problems whatsoever transferring the happy barndance-vibes from Under the Surface on stage. There were bliss and up-tempo tunes, charming clumsiness and almost sacred beautiful moments. Marit showed a strong voice on Solid Ground and made Come closer whinny with banjo happiness. She invited the audience to clap their hands on the cover version of The Angels sixties-hit My boyfriends back, and started to laugh in the middle of the song. That said, its not easy to keep a straight face with lyrics like My boyfriends back, hes gonna save my reputation The strength of a young girl Marit Larsens musical strength is the ability to switch between the fragile and the majestic, the sweet and the mature. Her vocals may sound like those of a young girl, but they also show tremendous strength and really come through when performing live. On the encores Poison passion and Under the surface she was joined by her father Geir Tore Larsen and strings from the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, and with this the cinematic elements of the album really came through on stage too. Goosebumps were easily obtained. The concertis givena fiveout of six. |
