At least two days before, confirm the following
With the visiting Team
The Venue
The colours you will both play in
The Kick-Off time
Entry to the ground arrangements (where appropriate)
With the Match Referee
Confirm that he is the appointed Referee
Confirm the date, time of Kick-Off and Venue
Leave your name and contact number(s) for emergencies
Each team to share the cost of the referee
With your own Team
Ensure that your own Captain, Team Manager(s) and Players are aware of the details of each match, both home and away.
Please read the rules in the Handbook and make sure you do not get fines for failing to provide relevant information in the time limits stated in the rules section of the Handbook.

Before the game
Pitch
Check that the pitch is OK, that nets and corner posts are provided
Changing Rooms
Check that the visiting changing room is prepared and clean
Meet the visiting team on arrival (do not expect them to know where to go to change)
Match Referee
Ensure that there is a changing room for the referee (if a separate room is not available, make sure you provide an adequate space in your own changing room)
Offer the referee payment after the game
Provide the referee with two good match balls to inspect before the game
Organise your 'linesmen' before the game and introduce him to the referee
After the game
Complete the team sheet details and post this off immediately, making sure it is signed by the referee
Thank the match referee
Telephone the result to the Press Officer within 2 hours (it would be helpful to provide the names of the goal scorers from both teams and a few sentences about your match)
All cup competitions must be decided at the end of the first game with extra time and penalty kicks.
In League Matches, the Ladies League is to be 70 minutes duration, 35 minutes each way. The Men's League is to be 90 minutes duration and can only be changed because of poor light etc and must be agreed with the Referee. In this case a match cannot be less than 70 minutes duration.
Referee Marks
If you give a referee a mark of 4 or less, then you must send a report to the League Secretary within 4 days of the match being played. It would be helpful if your report could cover the following areas of the referee's performance:
Fitness
Control of the game
Signals
Application of the laws of the game
General comments to support your report can be included, but should be factual. It would not be helpful to make a general statement "This referee is useless" without qualifying your statement with factual evidence.
Reports are dealt with by the League Secretary who will then forward them to the County FA Office, who will take the appropriate action.
Postponements
If a match has to be postponed because of bad weather, please make arrangements to do this as early as possible. When you have made a decision that a game cannot be played because of weather and/or pitch conditions, the following must be informed:
League Chairman
Match Referee
Your opponents
Press Officer
In exceptional circumstances please contact the League Chairman.
A brief report confirming the reasons for the postponement should be sent to the League Fixtures Secretary within 4 days.
And finally .....
Remember, if you have a problem or difficulty about any administrative matter relating to the Devon Wednesday League, please contact a League Officer and discuss the matter quickly. League Officers are there to help you. However, calls would be appreciated before 22.00 please!
