~My Personal Experience~
It all started on January 1,2000. I was just 15 years old and it was 8 days before my 16th birthday. I had been begging my mom for months to get my tongue pierced, but she had always told me "no". On this day she changed her mind.  We went to DownTown Orlando,Fl and went to StrongArm 47. I told the man at the desk, Tommy, what I wanted done. He told me that I would have to go and get a paper notarized first saying that the person  with me was my legal parent.  We went and got the paper notarized and went back to the shop. I paid him the $40, and we went back into the piercing/tattoo room.  He told me to go to the sink and gargle with mouth wash for 30 sec. I did, then went back to "the chair" and he dried my tongue off with a paper towel.  Next, he got a non-permanent marker and marked my tongue. He gave me a mirror and asked me if the spot he marked was ok. I shook my head yes.  He then unwrapped the the clamps and other materials that had been placed in the autoclave to get sterilized and pulled out what looked like an oversized sewing needle.  He told me he was going to count to three and then stick the needle in. 1...2... he stuck it in!! ( He later told me the reason he did this: I was so anxious that he decided to stick it in on 2 instead of three because it looked like I was going to jump). Next, he stuck the barbell through and fastened it on. It felt really tight, but it wasn't.  He told me that for aftercare, I would have to gargle with listerine half diluted with water for two weeks after every time I ate or drank.  In the end, I was very satisfied with my piercing. Oh and one last thing, DO NOT EACH KETCHUP OR MUSTARD for two -three weeks after the piercing.  It burns like h e _ _.
AHHHHH!!!!
