Throughout my life I have experienced much discrimination and shame because of my weight. Since I began school, I was always viewed as the "fat kid" and many times was the butt of someone's cruel joke or mean comment. As I have gotten older, it has changed from being insulted and called names, to being discriminated against because of my size, regardless of who I am as a person. Despite this, I have always tried to maintain a happy optimistic attitude. On September 25th I am undergoing weight loss surgery in an effort to lose weight. The surgery I will be having is the Biliopancreatic diversion with the Duodenal Switch. It is my hope that this operation will be a tool to help me become a healthier person and help me live a more normal life. |
