January Meeting

The January 17th meeting will be at the Anchor & Shield Club at Base Mobile on Thursday, 1930.  Due to ever changing security at the base, it is recommended that you wear your uniform and bring your ID.  If you have invited a guest to the meeting, please call Steve Andrews – FC so that he can get their names on the list at the guard building.

December Party

The December Party was a huge success.  If you have pictures, please forward them to me so I can put them in the next Driftwords.

Vessel Examination

Ken MacRae

I have the 2002 Boat Safety Check Decals and will give them out at the meeting.  If a currently qualified VE cannot attend I will make arrangements to get Decals to them. We will have a Seminar (a short one) soon to go over the program.

Every Auxiliarist who has a useable boat should also have a boat check of one of three kinds before May of this year.  The three kinds of acceptable checks are:  A regular Boat Safety Check such as we give to the public. Or a Facility Inspection and offer of use, or a Facility Inspection and not offered for use.  After all if we are promoting boating safety we should at least show that we keep our own boats safety equipped.

The Boat Ramp Saturdays for 2002 will be on the last Saturday of each month from February through October unless problems occur.

The Locations and dates are:

Feb 23            Lusher Park

Mar 23            Mobile Causeway

April 27           Dauphin Island

May 25           Beach Comber

June. 29         Foul River

July 27            Bayou le Batre

Aug.31            Lusher Park

Sep.28           Causeway

Oct.26             Dauphin Island

Operation Noble Eagle Tops 150,000 Hours!

Word from the offices of Rear Admiral Cross is that this is fantastic work and that the Admiral appreciates not only the tremendous effort but also the dedication to capture this data and would like this data capture to continue.  This data is helping the Coast Guard to lobby for funds to support the Auxiliary program.
