Jek Lorran - Dark Jedi Scholar
Jek Lorran is the son of a Records Official on Obra-skai who was taken by Brakiss as a student for the Shadow Academy. Jek was one of the students to survive the destruction of the Shadow Academy and was invited back to Yavin 4 by Master Skywalker to train to be a real Jedi. Using his knowledge of history and his father's access to many records that were thought lost, Jek served under Jedi Master Tionne as the Academy's official historian and researcher. Jek's parents were killed when Obra-skai was attacked by the Yuzzhan Vong and almost all the records there were lost. Jek was devestated by the loss of his family and felt that the Jedi, specifically Skywalker, were to partially to blame because they did not act. Jek was among the students evacuated to the Errant Venture after the destruction of the Jedi Academy, again by the Yuzzhan Vong. Jek had again lost a home and people he cared about because of the Vong. He swore that he would get his revenge against them but knew that Skywalker and the others would try to stop him. Jek was able to strike out on his own by stowing away on a transport leaving the Errant Venture.
Jek made his way to the Corporate Sector, where he met an Imperial Moff who was also looking for a way to stop the Vong and had come across ancient documents about a race called Rakatans, who may have created things that can help them. Jek was easily persuaded to help him in his search and eventually they made a startling discovery: a Rakatan Star Forge He has begun working to decipher the secrets of the Star Forge but in the process is becoming corrupted by it just as Revan & Malak did thousands of years ago. Jek splits his time between the Star Forge and traveling to the Rakatan homeworld in his ship, a YT-2000 transport called The Knowing Star. He is trying to learn as much about the Rakatans as he can so that he can better understand the workings of the Star Forge.
