| A few days before Christmas Hitler was released from jail. It was now the year of 1924. Hitler has spent 9 months in jail. Hitler still was not satisfied, he wanted to rule. The Nazis were like a small goverment, waiting, waiting to run Germany. To be a goverment the Nazis had to overcome a few obstacles. Ever since the Beer Hall Putsch the goverment of German state of Bavaria banned the Nazi Party and their nespaper (Gavin, 1996).
On February 27, 1925 Hitler reclaimed is position as the leader of the Nazi Party , and had their first big meeting since the Beer Hall Putsch. Within Hitlers two hour speech, thousands of cheering Nazis, he started making the same threats to the Jews, Marxists, and the democratic republic. The goverment put a two year ban on Hitlers pubic speaking. This was a major set back, Hitler was known for his speaking skills (Gavin, 1996). One of Hitler's happiest times were between 1926-1929. In May of 1926 Hitler overcame all of the obstacles within the Nazi Party. He was then named supreme leader. In 1927, when the ban was lifted, Hitler gave a speech infront of about 5,000 people (Gavin,1996). At the age of 39, Hitler finally found a home. He invited his sister, Angela, to come and stay with him and do the house chores. She arrived with her two daughters, Friedl and Geli. Hitler quickly feel in love with Geli. Hitler acted like a teenager in love. He took her everywhere. He wanted for her as she tried on clothes, took her to movies, and even party meetings. Geli became the object of Hitlers affection (Gavin, 1996). On October 29, 1929 the Wall Street stock market collapsed. This sent people into complete terror. People began to lose their jobs, familys began to starve. The Great Depression had began. This was now Hitlers opportunity (Gavin, 1996). The Nazi Party had now reached 100,000 members, in a country over sixty million. By the middle of the 1930's the German goverment was beginning to lose it due to The Great Depression (Gavin, 1996). Between the years of 1930 and 1931 was good for Hitler and the Nazi Party. The Nazis were now the second largest group in Germany. Hitler was still involved with his niece Geli, and he has been since 1928. Geli loved the attention she got while she was with Hitler, but she was still a younge girl and loved to flirt. She had many affairs while she was with Hitler. Hitler become very jealous and started to flirt himself. Hitler began to have an affair with a seventeen year old named Eva Braun. Hitler began to become very controlling over Geli. She could not do anything with out his permission. Their relationship began to get worse. They yelled and screamed. There was many arguments. In september of 1931 Geli asked her uncle, Hitler, if she could go to Vienna while he was away, but he immeditly said No. This caused an argument. He kept saying no. While he was getting into the car to leave Geli yelled out the window one more time, but of course he said no. The next morning Hitler's car was flagged down, Rudolph Hess was on the telphone telling him that his niece had shot and killed herself. Hitler immeditly rushed back to the hotel to find out that the body was already moved. Geli had shot herself in the heart with a pistol. It has been said that Geli was the only person Hitler had ever loved. He kept photos of her everywhere. "Shortly after her death, Hitler looked with disdain on a piece of ham being served during breakfast and refused to eat it, saying it was like eating a corpse. From that moment on, he refused to eat meat" (Gavin, 1996). in, 1996). |

| In October of 1919 Hitler was apart of The German Worker's Party. The German Worker's party consisted of seven people, but they still needed new members. The posted adds in newspapers, handed out flyers, but hardly anyone came (Gavin, 1996). Hitler's first speech was in a Beer Cellar. Many of the members douted him and thought he could not do it. To their surprise Hitler was amazing, emotional, and dedicated speaker. They began to use Hitler as their main attraction. Right away Hitler began to blame the Jews for Germany's problems (Gavin, 1996). On Febuary 24th, 1920 The Nazi Party was formed. The group housed over two thousand communistst, that would kill almost six million of one race (Bulow, 2005). The party consisted of primarily men of Aryan discent, who said a certain race was unclean, and unfit to even live in the streets (Gavin,1996). As time went on Hitler began to get better at speaking to large groups. Hitler began to travel all over Germany trying to help improve and increase the Nazi movement (Gavin,1996). In November of 1923 the Nazis had 55,000 followers. The Nazis came up with a plan to kidnap the leaders of Bavarian and force them at gunpoint to accept Hitler as their leader. On November 8, 1923 at 8:30 p.m. Hitler and his troops put the plan into action. They stormed into the Beer Hall where the leaders of Bavarian were guest of honor. Hitler fired a pistol into the celing, while screaming and making demands. Hitler orderd the three leaders of Bavarian into the backroom. The three men did not join the Nazi group at first, but the soon went with it. The Beer Hall then cheered for Hitler. Soon after all the cheering Hitler recieved word that several attempts to take over several Army barracks had failed, Hitler decided to leave and solve the issue. While Hitler was gone trying to get the soliders to surrender the three leaders of Bavarian slipped out and left the beer hall (Gavin,1996). Angry that the attempt to take over the Army barracks Hitler and one of the Nazis, Lundendorff, told Hitler to march into the streets and demand them to surrender. Lundendorff promised Hitler they would not fire at him and the would most likely join him and the Nazis (Gavin,1996). On November 9, around eleven a.m. Hiler marched into the city followed by three thousand Nazis. When they reached the center of Munich they were blocked off by a houndred policeman. Hiter then yelled at them to surrender, and the did not. Shots were fired. Sixteen Nazis were killed, and three policeman were killed. Hilter's bodygard, Ulrich Graf, saved his life by jumping on him and procted him from the several shots that were fired at him. Hitler crowed away, while all the other Nazis were arrested. Hitler stayed at a friends house for three days. On the third day the police came and arrested him (Gavin,1996). Hitler became a nationaly and internationaly know figure thanks to the press coverage of his treason trial. Hitler did not deny the charges against treason, he admited it. The court let Hitler talk as long as he wanted and cross examine wittness and even intureupt others. After Hitlers long speach the court's verdict was guilty. Hitler was sentenced for five years in jail, and eligable for porale in six months (Gavin,1996). |
