KENNETH WAYNE MEMERY- Lead Guitar, Vocals
Ken Memery, aka...Young Kenneth...was born and raised in Manchester,
Connecticut, just outside Hartford. He first got interested in music by
playing the tonette (recorder) in 5th grade. He quickly advanced to the
head of his class, surpassing the stylings of Larry Smith and Ron Binks, his
major competition. Upon graduation, he was allowed to pick the band
instrument of his choice. He chose the Trumpet because it only had three
valves and looked "easy". He quickly realized that it was far from that and
soon Larry Smith was wrestling for control of the coveted "First Chair"
position in the Junior High School's trumpet section. Time went on and
Kenneth found himself unable to continue with the trumpet in 9th grade as he
found himself donning braces. Seeking a new instrument, he found himself
drawn to the drums as he used to spend hours sitting on the curb down the
street from his boyhood home listening to Brad Farley practice his drums for
hours in the basement of his house on Blue Ridge Drive. Kenneth got a used
practice set and soon realized that utilizing all of one's appendages to
play an instrument took actual practice time and dexterity and he was
unwilling to make that kind of serious commitment. The obvious solution was
to learn the basic chords on guitar, pose a lot, and become the rock
Demi-god that he is in his own mind today. At first, in High School he got
his sea legs playing with an outfit by the name of Blind Corner. There were
many "classic" performance moments playing live, such as the Battle of the
Bands, 1983, where a young (really!) Kenneth thought it would be cool to
walk up the aisle into the audience and be a real rock star. Needless to
say the realization that he'd gone too far and pulled his guitar cable out
of his amp was a high point of that era. At age 34, Kenneth has finally
breached the gap between playing Classic Rock and a few songs that he really
doesn't know, but it seems to impress "The Kids". He is now considering
playing only Country versions of ICP songs for his own piece of mind.
Apathy.
